Island Park Weekend

Click on Pic to make it bigger.
Over Labor Day weekend we went with some of Cort's high school buddies and their families to Island Park. We had so much fun and did a lot of fun things. We went fishing, went fishing, went fishing, waited for the guys to get back from fishing, went to West Yellowstone to eat, went fishing, stopped at the big waterfall, and went fishing again. Jack even caught a fish with a homemade fishing stick by Victor. Good thing the fish was only two inches long! The first night we got there at midnight because we were licensing our new tent trailer that Jami and Bob gave us. We got camp set up and Jack decided he wasn't tired, or was scared, or wanted to play, but he stayed up until four in the morning! We were very tired the next day little stinker. Our last night at the camp Me, Cort, Hayden, and Trevor were getting ready to go to bed and were teasing about bears. Right before we dumped water on the fire we heard two bear grunts from not very far away. We all had trailers to sleep in, but two were just tent trailers which are NOT bear proof. We heard the bear in the bushes behind us so I took off running to the RV trailer. Jack was asleep in our tent trailer so I freaked out. Cort went in our trailer and luckily Victor was smart and brought a gun. The guys went back outside and made a bunch of noise- made the fire bigger, and scared the bear away. Needless to say, I don't think anyone got any sleep that night. The next day we found out that while the boys were fishing they barely missed a bear tearing two four-wheelers up looking for food because some people were yelling at them to be careful. Scary.
What is camping without the great food? We had some awesome dutch oven and pancakes!
We could not get Jack out of the dirt. There wasn't a lot of running around with his broken leg so we just put a sock over his cast and let him go to town in the dirt.

At the waterfall.
Heidi really wanted to see the big fish under the bridge.

Thanks Vic for packing Jack around!
In the back of the truck to go fishing- is this safe?

Fair time

Jack loves to ride the horse rides.

I just can't resist this little wrangler butt.
Looking at the stinky pigs.
We love August and September because that means it is fair time. We went to the Preston and Blackfoot fairs this year. Jack loved to look at all the animals and we loved to eat the fair food. It was really rainy and cold at the Blackfoot fair, but we still had a good time.

Another Trailer

Out the door! Cort finished another custom interior living quarter for a horse trailer. It is always a good day when we pull the trailer back to the owner. He has worked so hard on this trailer and even did all the hard wood work, cabinets, and everything. It is complete with bunk beds in the tack room, shower-toilet combo- fridge, T.V., CD player, sink, and bed. It is amazing to me how much he can fit into such a little space. He is such a handy man and does beautiful work. But of course I have to say he is a handy man because he reminds me all the time by singing the "I'm your handy man" song.

Broken Leg

Last Saturday we went to Logan on a picnic to the park. Cort was taking Jack down a twisty slide and he foot got caught between Cort's leg and the side of the slide. We heard a popping noise and Jack began crying. We knew something happened to his leg. We brought him to the emergency room and did X-rays, but they didn't find anything. Jack was in pain and couldn't put any pressure on his leg so the doctor wrapped it in a soft cast for a few days until we could X-ray it again. It took three people to hold him down while getting his X-ray and I couldn't even be in the room because I am pregnant. It was so sad to hear my little boy in there screaming and not being able to comfort him. On Tuesday we brought him back to the doctor and he still couldn't put any pressure on his leg. We got more X-rays and still couldn't find any definite breaks. The doctor thinks he may have got a fracture by his growth plate in his ankle so now he has to get a bone scan next week. He wrapped it in a hard green cast for now. Jack had a hard time the first couple of days not being able to use his leg at all. He is used to running everywhere and playing all day. Now he has to be carried around and sitting. I am trying even to get him to like cartoons and movies because it is really tiring for mom to carry him ALL day! He is starting to use his leg a little bit and just figured out that he can crawl with his cast. It is so sad to see your kid in pain and miserable, but being the mom of a boy I am sure this is just the first of many incidences that we will encounter.

Summer Feet

Jack pretty much wore these blue crocs every day this summer. He has quite the polka dot tan lines from them. They are worn right out and even stretched to get a little more wear. He loved to be outside every day and luckily got his tan skin from his dad so he didn't burn.

What's That?

I call this my "What's that" picture because when Jack was about 6 months my Dad would always ask him "what's that." Jack picked up on this really quick and was one of his first words pointing at everything and wanting to know what it was. He still asks that about everything and really wants you to tell him what everything is.
Jack stats:
*He is 17 months old in 4 days.
*He jabbers all the time and sometimes you can make out some definite words. One of his favorite words is horse. He has also said: Daddy (of course) momma, Toto, goat, cat, dog, tractor, stick, YEAH, no, and many other words. He has learned a little bit of sign language because he was frustrated not being able to tell me what he wants like: finished, more, please, and thank you.
*Jack is such a loving boy, he hugs and kisses almost every little kid he meets and waves at everyone in the store, cars driving by, and even the animals.
*He loves to run and be going constantly. He really doesn't take a break except for when he is sleeping.
*He likes to take naps, sometimes I can't get him in his crib fast enough he grabs his crib and pulls himself in. He likes to cuddle with his cowboy blanket for naps. He is luckily for me still taking two naps most days which I am sure will end really soon.
*His favorite food is definitely macaroni and cheese but he is also a big fruit fan. He loves to pick strawberries, gooseberries, apples, and apricots at Granny and Pa's house, and he also loves grapes and bananas.
*He flirts and smiles at everyone he meets, I think more people know him than know me in Preston. He is one popular kid! We are so glad we have him and love him more and more every day!

Rodeo weekend

We had a lot of happenings last weekend here in P-town. Rodeo weekend is so fun, three big nights of the exact same parade, the carnival, and of course the Famous Preston Night Rodeo! Jack loved every minute of it. We got to hang out with Chels, Nate, Sawyer, Wyatt, Kai'le stayed with us for a day, and Riley, Grandpa Rod, and Coby were in the Rodeo Friday night. The boys looked so dang cute in their matching cowboy apparel. Jack loved the rodeo and couldn't get enough of watching, clapping, and saying "horse" or "what's that?" all night long.

Maggie

The summer of Jack continues. What more does a one year old little boy need besides a horse, dog, goats, and rabbits? A pony! Granny and Pa bought Jack this pony for the summer of Jack. He loves her so much and loves to get on and ride her. We named her Maggie- We thought we would be safe with this name because we probably won't name a kid Maggie...

Maggie, Cort and Jack
Me, Jack, and Maggie
Cort and my dad had to put up panels around the hay stack because the horses kept getting into it and tearing it down. Jack was a very good helper!

Cataract Canyon Rafting

Cort, my Dad, Shannon, and Dave got to go on a three day rafting trip with Kim and Tee and their family. I was planning on going until a couple weeks before when boats were getting flipped and the water was still really high and dangerous. They had a blast jumping off the boat, Cort did back flips off cliffs, going on hikes, and playing games. They had some crazy level five rapids where four of the boats flipped, but were all safe and they had a blast.

Yes this is my dad doing a backflip off the boat- I didn't get any proof of Cort doing backflips off the cliff though.

Pool Party and Fun

We love to swim in the pool. Pa brought his air mattress so we could float around, Jack thought that was pretty neat. My parents also just got a really nice swing set with a slide that Jack loves to slide into the pool.

We love to have pool parties, Here are some of Jack's friends Burk and Claire swimming with him.

My friend Mary and her kids came over for a picnic the other day, it is so fun to see my friends from high school and see their kids. Jack loved playing with Sweden and Dodger.

4th of July

Better late than never right? On the fourth of July we like to go to the Lewiston festivities which consist of a parade in the morning and then fun in the park with food, booths, and entertainment. At the parade we ate popcorn, rice crispy treats, and lots of candy- Jack was in heaven.

Private?

I have contemplated making my blog private, but my friend just posted these instructions on her blog to make it partly private- so it can't be found in search engines, etc. Anyone with your address can still get on easily and you can still reach your blog through links off your friends, but it is just a little security from FREAKS if ya know what I mean! Anyway everyone should do these simple instructions written by Christina Barrington- I hope she doesn't mind me plagarizing!
There is a way to avoid all this. If you haven't done this yet, do it. It makes it so that your blog doesn't come up when people click on your name (in comments) and also removes your blog from public listings.
"Once you're signed into your blog, on your dashboard go to the "Settings" tab of your blog. Then, under the "Basic" tab on the left going down, you'll see "Title" "Description" and then the two all important "Add your blog to our Listings" and "Let search engines find your blog" Set both of those to "No" and scroll down to "Save".Then back out to your Dashboard to "Edit My Profile" and down to "Show My Blogs". Click on "Select Blogs to Display", click "OK" in the little box that comes up (because you probably haven't changed anything on that page and it's just being paranoid). You should now see a page that says "Set Displayed Blogs" - un-check everything and then click "Save Settings".

Baby boy

This ultrasound was taken on June 18th, I am a little slow to post. I love ultrasounds, it makes it seem so much more real that there really is a baby in my belly. It is such an amazing thing to be able to see the different body parts and how much they can detect and see. The profile looks just like Jack's ultrasound profile. I wonder if this baby will look like Jack.

It's definitely a boy!

And here is my growing belly at 20 weeks when this ultrasound picture was taken- I think I have doubled my size this next month! To be continued...
