potty training woes...

So the worst part of being a mom... potty training! This summer has been dedicated to this very thing. Jack showed a lot of interest and even though he is just over 2 years old I thought no better time to start then now that I am not teaching. We have had a lot of funny/frustrating experiences with this milestone in his life. Jack has gotten to the point where if he has an accident in his pants he automatically goes to his time out chair to sit.
One day he was in his room playing and I was folding laundry when he came out, looked at me, and went downstairs with a guilty look on his face. I went in his room and saw a piece of poop on his floor. I cleaned it up and Jack came back upstairs so excited because he pooped in the potty. I just couldn't get mad at him because he at least finished pooping in the potty. But then he got his bear and brought it downstairs. When I came down I saw his bear sitting on his time out chair and he told me his bear was in time out for pooping on the floor. Then he took the bear and put it on the toilet.
I didn't know whether to get mad at him for pooping on the floor, or blaming in on the bear, or just be glad he realized what was happening in the first place. It took over a month but I am pleased to say that he is finally there and is potty trained almost 100%. Every time he poops he says "is mommy happy" then names everyone in our family and says they are happy. Such a funny kid!

July Highlights

July somehow flew by without me realizing it or blogging about anything so I have A LOT to catch up on all our fun. So here we go...
Our first pool party in the dragon pool.
My dad taught Jack how to drive his lawn mower, he can drive it really well by himself on the low speed. Maybe a little dangerous?

We went to the home show to get some ideas before we started to build our house. Hank loved this little motorcycle in one of the houses.
Chels came with her nephews and the boys played and played. Somehow they all ended up playing naked and riding the tractor, hilarious!
Having a picnic.
At a rodeo Jack loved playing with his friends and being the bucking bull while his friends rode him.

car, jeep, truck, and a minivan

So we have been through the cars the last while. We actually started our marriage with a long bed pickup truck and my dodge neon. Cort luckily totalled the long bed which was lucky for us that he was ok and we did well on the insurance. Then we bought a jeep which we had a few years and sold. Then we bought a brown chevy truck, kept a few years and traded in for our white jeep grand cherokee. We just traded that jeep for a 4 door white truck which we drove for 3 days and it blew up, so took it back and got a grey mega cab dodge. I was so happy the white truck didn't work because it was long bed and I just didn't love it. But I love the mega cab- lots of room for kids! Then my parents got a new car so we got their mini van. I have to say that I thought I would never be a mini van mom, but I LOVE it! I now say it is my car of choice if I had a million dollars I would buy a brand new mini van- but with 4 wheel drive. Which means I had to sell my other favorite car of all time, my dodge neon that I have had for the past 8 years. It was such an awesome car and had many memories and fun in it. I put a lot of miles on this car to Cali in college, Las Vegas, and many other places. It was hard to see this car go, but luckily I love my mini van just as much! This is all pretty lame and uninteresting but fun for us to see how many cars we have driven through the years. And for me to remember my dodge neon that I loved...

A couple of events to remember

This month has just flown by. I am trying to catch up on all our fun and have some events that I just want to remember that we did.
Cort's birthday was pretty low key this year. He had to work and we were just really busy. But here he is at 29 years old having his birthday breakfast. He had a little bit of a hard time turning 29 so I think next year he might really struggle. What a good husband and daddy. We love him so much.
We got the chance to go see my Grandpa Cowman. He had a brain tumor last year which left him in the veterans center in Pocatello. He is doing well and we love to go visit him when we get the chance.

Mom's B-day festivities

We had a big weekend for the BIG birthday party. I won't mention how old she turned but it was the big one that ends with a "0" We did all of her favorite things which involves anything with the grandboys. We hope she had a fun day because she deserves it. She is by far the best Mom, MIL, and Granny in the entire world.
We went on a hike above the Bountiful temple.

Mom's birthday dinner at Cheesecake Factory- YUM!
Blowing out the cupcakes.
Doing what we do best- shopping.
Granny reading the boys a book on the balcony.

Judges run

My BIL Nate works for a law firm in Salt Lake that put on a 5k run. My entire family entered and we had a blast! Everything gets competitive in our family, especially with Nate and I, and now Kyle adds another dimension to the competitiveness of us all.
The whole gang that ran or walked.
Cort and I before the race.
Jack got out and ran the last 25 yards across the finish line- it was so cute!
And I am proud to say that I have yet again beat everyone in a competition. I got a first place medal and ribbon. Booyah!

HOGLE ZOO

We went to Hogle Zoo in June for a little family fun. Jack LOVED all the animals and could almost name all of them.

Jack found a tiger he could ride and was really excited about it.
The traditional Hogle Zoo picture. Can you go to Hoglle Zoo without taking this picture?
Jack had to ride the carousel but couldn't decide what animal to ride on so he sat on about 3 different animals throughout the ride.

stuff

Jack went in for his 2 year check up. We have a healthy happy boy. He was so good getting his shots and kept saying the doctor make me feel better.
How our bed looks most mornings plus me. Jack's favorite thing to do in the morning is to "cuddle" and insists that Hank lays in bed with us too.
